My thoughts on Kim Burrell.

First, I wasn’t there for the sermon, so I’m not sure if it was taken out of context or not.  We have to understand that people can read the same bible and interpret it a million different ways.  I am flabbergasted by people jumping on the bandwagon to  crucify Kim Burrell for the sermon she gave to her congregation that none of us were there for.  How many people have made statements taken out of context? Or told someone something to only have them go repeat the story in parts?  Or what if it wasn’t taken out of context is she not entitled to say what she feels the spirit lead HER to say?  Maybe there is a reason (to get people thinking and talking).  I am not taking sides at all but I would rather be dead then give up my right to think, feel and say what I believe in my heart.  I am shocked (not really) at how quickly we tear people down?  I can remember going to school and meeting girls who could never wear pants because their church didn’t believe in that.  That made no sense what so ever to me; but it wasn’t supposed to for I wasn’t of that faith.
Different churches have different practices; maybe that is the CULTURE of THAT church.  A church I attended in the past that had a practice where a woman who had a child out of wedlock had to come to the front of the church and basically apologize.  I remember as a young girl looking at this thinking, “where is the dude that made the baby with her” and “if the goal is to repent to God, why are you standing before us repenting before man”.  As a grown woman who unfortunately had two pregnancies out of wedlock, I still find myself thinking the same thing and not never would I stand before a group of people who probably have more skeletons in their closet then a graveyard and apologize for my sin.  But that was the culture/practice of THAT church.  There are churches where people are going broke paying tithes while their pastor lives lavish, that is the culture of that church.  I recently went to a church where they had a card swipe and a financial goal for that Sunday and was holding people there until they reached it, that is the culture of that church.  I have heard sermons where you’re made to feel bad for wanting good things in life (travel, nice house, nice car etc) and as I sat there with my $60 purse I was thinking, “I work hard, I give and help others am I not entitled to enjoy the fruits of my labor at least I didn’t pay for the $200 one?”. But, that is the culture of that church.
I was looking at some of the responses to her video on youtube and as predicted there was a video talking about she was taken down by the illuminati.  A mother and daughter died over a week ago and there was no such buffoonery said, but as our famous people die or fall from favor that’s the first thing it’s attributed to. SAD.  She was taken down by her own not by some factious evil entity that she exchanged her soul for fame and now her bill is due. #confusedlookonmyface
Again, read the bible for yourself, gain understanding as it pertains to your life; people are entitled to their thoughts and feelings, and make sure that while you are condemning someone for a sermon that you aren’t doing the same thing…condemning them for being who they are..sin is sin condemning is condemning, criticism is criticism
The one theme that is constant in the bible and cannot be misinterpreted is LOVE. Regardless of color, love.  Regardless of faith practice, love.  Regardless of who you love, LOVE. Regardless of class, gender ethnicity, walk of life…LOVE
