Brother I see you

Brother I see you, I see you struggling to be who you are 

I see you struggling to find your greatness, your place in the world

I feel your fear, walking down the street.. "is this the day I die"? Mistaken identity? Racial profiling? Wrong place wrong time?  

Brother I see you.  I see your intelligence. I see your natural gift of wisdom. I understand the way you think. 

I see you struggling to find your place in the world not created for you, your will to succeed. The great divine created all equal, but evil that lurks in the hearts of man cut your bootstraps, so they are not equal. They gave you old worn out shoes, they gave you worn out straps that I break when you try to pull them up.

They cut the legs off your chair so you'll never have an equal seat at the table (in their minds); seeing all that they see, benefiting from all that they benefit from, getting all that's there, so you can create your own boots, bootstraps.  Make your own tables and chairs, ones you sit at the head of.  Getting all they have the privilege of getting, my brother I see you.

I see they have taken fathers out of homes, so what do you see?  Mom struggling, mom having a new man over you and your siblings.  Moms new man taking from the household instead of contributing to the household. Moms new man abusive; towards you, towards mom and siblings. You struggling to understand who you are supposed to be, this thing called "manhood".  Mom with a woman; barely seeing mom because she has two jobs. 

Looking for in a relationship what you didn't get from a female maternal figure, my brothers I SEE YOU!!

Bullet ridden bodies, consoling other brothers as you bury yet another brother. Jumping at every loud noise, firecrackers, car backfires, is this it is this my time?

My brothers I see you trying, I applaud your efforts. Those succeeding reaching back to pull up other brothers, sharing your money, time, knowledge and your heart.

My brother you have MY heart, you are in MY prayers, if nobody tells you this.. I LOVE YOU, I KNOW YOU,  I FEEL YOU AND I SEE YOU!!!!
