Self Care starts with Caring for Self

I had to take a break and get my health (mental and physical) together.  I'm amazed at how shocked I am when things I know to be true happen to me.   Example, last year in June or July I started having severe back pains to the point I couldn't walk, sit, stand too long or sleep the wrong way.  This transferred to problems with my stomach which I couldn't keep down water, then they thought it was my gallbladder (it wasn't) and then my knee.  It started to affect my mental health to the point I started taking Celexa to help me not loose my mind.  The connection was between my physical health and my mental health.  As one started going down hill so did the other.  However, me being the grownup I am I still went to work, found a way to still be mom all while dealing with pains that made me feel like I was twice my age.  I had to do things I'm not used to doing such as taking vitamin supplements and pain meds on the regular.   the experience taught me a few things 1. Listen to your body 2. Take care of yourself mentally and physically  and 3. Use PTO (personal time off) as needed.  This is going to sound real crazy but I've started doing body scans.  I take time at least once a week to stop clear my mind and focus on one body part to check in and see how we (me and my body) are doing.  It looks like this, " how are we doing today legs, thank you for getting me around today.  Thank you for carry me around; I will take better care of you resting you, exercising you and listening to you when you say we are tired".

Listen to your body, you mind with thank you
