Today I've decided to post a thought on mental health
How often do you hear statements like,"my crazy..or he touched, or she's a little slow in the head, or even he talks to himself". How much patience do we have with family and friends with mental health problems. Take a classic schizophrenic. You live life, have a job, home, nice car and friends..but then wake up one day and feel like someone else. You start hearing things or seeing things. Or take bipolar..you have these disruptive episodes, mood swings from one extreme to the next and you can't control it. Add paranoia to any of these imagine always feeling someone is out to get you. Or imagine feeling so bad about your life or yourself that it's a struggle to even get up and go to the washroom. What if it were you? Would you want people avoiding you, isolating you, talking about you? Not every person is "that way" because of drugs or alcohol. Not all mothers use drugs during pregnancy. So where does it come from? Physical trauma, genetics, traumatic events to a mother during pregnancy or poor prenatal care. Imagine getting on a roller coaster backwards really fast and then get off, see how it takes a minute to get your bearings. Now imagine your life is an emotional roller coaster filled with violence, physical, sexual and emotional abuse? You were only on that roller coaster for about 3 minutes. Imagine this is your life. How many years will it take to.."get your bearings".. Just a thought....
